With or without NAFTA, we’d still be losing jobs to countries with cheaper labor. I disagree with NAFTA, and would like to see it eliminated, but not because of job loss, because it would make our goods made here more cost appealing to ourselves. Jobs will be lost because of globalization, and anyone who places all blame on NAFTA for job losses needs to research the change of our economy because of the Internet.
Mohomo: Not all people are qualified for high paying jobs. There are many that are in their late 30′s and 40′s with nothing more than a high school education and a good work ethic. Everyone will not go to college, and eliminating the working class even more will not help our economy, it will crumble it. Does everyone you know have a college degree? Does everyone you know make over $70,000 a year? It is very ignorant to eliminate the middle class; continuing with NAFTA is another way to help that happen. Have you asked yourself why our imports are increasing at a faster rate than our exports? I dont know about millions out of work. Unemployment is very low right now. What jobs are they doing is a better question. I think they are working at minimum wage jobs and thats a rub since the middle class is shrinking.
We do however live in a globalizing world and the EU’s GDP is a testament to the power. We could have more influence in the world if we had a similar arrangement in the Americas. Its clear from their experience say with the Polish that its got some hard parts to get over.

We should demand fair trade. Free trade is a mess and it allows other countries to set high tariffs on our products and their products come here at low or no tariffs. Fair trade is the answer and it would be simple, get rid of the current trade agreements and create a new trade law that say’s our tariffs are 5% or whatever and the other countries must have a 5% tariff to bring products here, if their tariffs are more lets say 20% then too bring a product to the USA it will be 20%, In other words a matching tariff, we offer a low tariff if the other countries reciprocate but if not then we match their tariff therefore making it fair trade.
It was always obvious that that was part of what NAFTA would do… and I’ve always been opposed to both NAFTA and WTO.

Our GREAT Politicians ( you know, ALL of them taking the bribes oops – sorry again, the political contributions) have aligned themselves with the NWO, and there is about as much of a chance of NULLIFYING NAFTA, as I have of flying a 747 over the moon!!
