Specifically that the laws that restrict on line gambling are against the rules. Does this mean the US will change to allow on line gambling?

I do not know why anyone thought that that law was not in violation of the World Trade Organization rules. It is my belief that most of the members of congress did not properly study the law since it was an amendment to another law.
I do not believe the law itself would have passed on its own merits. I believe the USA will change the law to comply with WTO. Even if you think online gambling is not a positive activity there would seem to be a better time to choose your battles.
Just for openness sake; I am not a gambler but I believe that passing the online gambling law in that manner was not appropriate.
US politicians will probably resolve any doubts as to the substance of that WTO ruling in their favor. I.e. they may argue that the WTO ruling did not give a “phase out” period for repealing old and promulgating new laws.. They may argue that the WTO rules were misinterpreted…. If all else fails they may attempt to follow but only if serves US interest (They probably care very little, if at all, about the International community – unless again the consequences reach into the US)…. Hell, US attacked Iraq and totally bypassed UN… Who’s the WTO to stop them? If US politicians decide not to follow the WTO rules, they will simply provide disgruntled countries generous economic “incentives” to look the other way. Just like Hugo Chavez buys other peoples and country with oil wealth.
